EDUCATIONAL SECTION - TRAINING CENTER FOR
FURTHER EDUCATION OF LIBRARIANS IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC
The Executive Committee of the SKIP approved an establishment
of a new special section on 19th FEB 2002:
Educational Section - Traninig Center for Further Education of Librarians
in the Czech Republic.
This section is a successor of the Training Center MOLIN and takes its
activities and functions over.

MAIN OBJECTIVES OF THE EDUCATIONAL SECTION-TRAINING
CENTER
- to organize educational activities for general professional
public
- to organize seminars, conferences, workshops and/or
other common meetings (including international activities) with a view
to special problems concerning further education of the librarians
- to coordinate and integrate educational activities for
librarians in the Czech Republic
- to improve an access to information on continuing professional
education for a general professional public
- to create standards in the sphere of extracurricular
professional education and a new evaluation system of educational programmes
- to support distance forms of the education
- formation and fullfilment of connection the long-life
workers´ education in all types of Czech libraries
Main result of this aspiration is to increase quality
and ensure flexibility of library services as well as adapt them to the
level of libraries in the European Union.
PRESENT TASKS OF THE SECTION
- to coordinate educational activities and make contacts
with potential partner organizations and/or institutions
- to create and maintain web pages of the section in the
Czech and English versions,
- to create standards for the courses and system of professional
certification of their contents
- to ensure a large circle of lecturers qualified for
various types of educational programmes, and currently to build up database
of the contacts,
- to work out a conception of the long-life education
for librarians in the Czech Republic and its connection with salaries
and wages and possibilities of professional career
Nowadays the Training Center comprises 14 regional centers
for further education of librarians in the Czech Republic.
